Science: Chapter 6- Ecosystems and Change
In science, we have started chapter 6 on
Lesson 1-"How Do Organisms Compete and Survive in an Ecosystem?"
Ask your child what symbiosis is? Have them name the three types of symbiosis and what they are.
Answer: Symbiosis-A relationship between different kinds of organisms.
Types:
mutualism-relationship where they both help each other (ants and aphids)
commensalism-only one organism benefits and the other isn't affected (shark and remora) parasitism-one organism benefits but the other is harmed (flea (parasite), human (host))
Lesson 2-"How Do Ecosystems Change over Time?"
Lesson 3-"How Do People Affect Ecosystems?"
Mrs. Spakausky's Math Class: Chapter 2-:Multiply Whole Numbers
Common Core State Standards:
5.NBT.2-Explain patterns in the number of zeros of the product when multiplying a number by powers of 10, and explain patterns in the placement of the decimal point when a decimal is multiplied or divided by a power of 10. Use whole-number exponents to denote powers of 10.
5.NBT.5-Fluently multiply multi-digit whole numbers using the stand algorithm.
Chapter 2:
*Prime Factorization
*Powers and Exponents
*Multiplication Patterns
*Problem-Solving-"Make a Table"
*Distributive Property
*Estimate Products
*Multiply by One-Digit Numbers
*Multiply-by Two Digit Numbers
Does your child know his multiplication facts?
How fluent are they?
They should be quick!!!
PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!!!
