Reading: We will read a biographical piece about baseball player Lou Gehrig. While studying this text, we will continue to work on our close reading skills and focus on identifying statements that are facts and statements that are opinions. There will be vocabulary work in Google Classroom.
English: We will focus on Explanatory Writing this week. We will review how to write a good lead. The students will also be writing about their Winter Break.
Spelling/Vocabulary: Unit 14 Soft "g"
This week's list will consist of words that contain the soft "g" sound like fragile and giant. There will be a test Friday, January 12th
Social Studies: We will begin our study of the Midwest. In lesson one we will read and learn how the Great Lakes link the Midwest region to the Gulf of Mexico and to the Atlantic Ocean. A quiz on the states on the Midwest is scheduled for Wednesday, January 17th.
Science: We will begin Chapter three, Adaptations in Science next week. We will read and learn how the bodies of animals help them meet their needs.
