English: Chapter 1-"The Sentence"
We will start chapter 1 this week.

Reading: Tall Tales
We will continue to use tall tale stories to identify story structure, distinguish between exaggerated and realistic story elements, and visualize story elements We will also use context clues to define unknown words.

Social Studies: Chapter 4-"Spain Builds an Empire"
We will begin with chapter 4 this year.
Lesson 1-The Voyages of Columbus and what it led to
Lesson 2-Different Worlds Collide-Spanish conquistadors establish new colonies in North America and South America
Lesson 3-Life in New Spain-Spain gaining wealth from the settlement in North America


Science: Science Inquiry
In science we will start with the first section about "Getting Ready for Science."

Welcome Back! 2012-2013



I hope you are enjoying your summer!

I am anxious to meet my new class for the 2012-2013 school year!

Enjoy the last few weeks of summer vacation and welcome to 5th grade!


It’s going to be a great year!


Please come to our open house between 1:30pm and 3:00pm on Friday, August 24th to check out your new classroom and your new teacher. Please bring all classroom supplies with you at this time. All of your supplies should be labeled with your name.

Monday, August 27th is our first full day of school!
