We had some fun making leprechauns!
Now we are writing stories to go with our leprechauns,
"How to Catch a Leprechaun." How is your child's story going? Sloppy copies were worked on Friday and writing spirals were sent home.
The final draft is due Tuesday.
During science we had a "roundtable" discussion about possible solutions to fixing the electrical problem in Ergstown.
We had to stick to the two pieces of criteria, as we discussed a possible BEST solution.

Spelling - Unit 21 - Relative Adverbs, Relative Pronouns, Reading content words
This week's lesson includes the spelling and application of relative adverbs, relative pronouns, and content words. A relative adverb relates back to a time, place or reason to provide more details about a noun. A relative pronoun relates back to something or someone else. The reading content words are familiar to students, and they should be able to spell them and to apply them (Example: identify a simile or a metaphor.) The final TEST is scheduled for Friday, 3/13.
Reading- Unit 2 - "Journeys"
We will begin reading the novel The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane. This story tells the tale of a china rabbit who goes on an adventure and learns how to love. We will begin by close reading an excerpt from the first chapter. This novel is rich in vocabulary and underlying themes, and I look forward to sharing Edward's journey in our classroom.Social Studies - Chapter 8, Lesson 1, 2, 3 The Midwest & Chapter 9- Lesson 1 only: The Ojibwa
We will finish Chapter 8 and review. Then we will study Chapter 9, only Lesson 1, about the people of the Midwest. The test on Chapter 8, Lessons 1, 2, 3, and Ch. 8, L. 1 will be on Tuesday, March 10th!!

Synthesizing ideas about system failure and studying the electrical grid are the topics for the week.
Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) - Solving Problems Part 2

In math this week, we applied our geometry skills to stations.
We sorted shapes based on what the riddle on our card said.
We also did a warm-up activity called 2 facts, 1 fiction. We had to tell the the 2 facts and 1 non-fact on our notecard and our partner had to guess which one was the non-fact about our geometric shape/concept.
