We started reading Lesson 1 in our States of Matter Chapter.  Ask your child what they have learned so far.

We will be covering:

Lesson 1-What is the Structure of Matter?
We will identify some physical properties of matter, define matter, atoms and molecules and relate the three states of matter to the arrangement and movement of particles.

We have dug deeper and we are learning about the Periodic Table.  Each student is completing a poster project in class about an element.  Ask your child about it.  What are their requirements and expectations?

Lesson 2-What Are Physical Properties and Changes?
We will be describing three states of matter, explain density and how it relates to volume and compare and contrast mixtures and solutions.

Lesson 3-What are Chemical Properties and Changes?
We will define chemical change, compare chemical changes, and explain how matter is conserved when a chemical change occurs.
