English: Chapter 1-"The Sentence"
We will start chapter 1 this week.

Reading: Tall Tales
We will start our unit on tall tale stories to identify story structure, distinguish between exaggerated and realistic story elements, and visualize story elements We will also use context clues to define unknown words.

Writing: 6 Traits
We will start discussing what the 6-Traits of writing are and have mini-lessons to help us strengthen our skills.  To learn more about the six traits watch the following video clip:

Social Studies: Chapter 4-"Spain Builds an Empire"
We will begin with chapter 4 this year.
