Important Dates:
Mon. 5/28-NO SCHOOL-Memorial Day
Wed. 5/30-Reading Celebration Lunch- in Classroom
Wed. 5/30-Talent Show for students in the PM
Thus. 5/31-5th grade picnic/activity celebration in AM
Fri. 6/1-5th grade Bowling 9-11AM
Mon. 6/4-All School Picnic and Bike Show Assembly



 (At the picnic, the students will each be served 1 hot dog, 1 bag of chips, 1 water & 1 ice cream; if they would like more or something different he/she will have to bring it from home.  :)THANKS!)

Next week in fifth grade we will: 

 
Math-Chapter 17-Metric Olympics

Friday and Tuesday our math students will participate in "Metic Olympics" with Miss Trefonas's Class.  Wednesday will be the last day of math!

Spelling:Lesson 34
Lesson 34 will be pretested on Tuesday. 
We may or may not have a test on Friday, depending on behavior during this week :)

Writing-Book making-
We will use our blank books and write a creative story.





Science-Chapter 13-"Earth, Moon and Beyond!"

Lesson 1-How does Earth's Orbit Affect the Seasons?
Lesson 2-How do Earth and the Moon Compare?
Lesson 3-What Makes Up Our Solar System?

We will continue to work on our space games next week.
Test will probably be Friday, May 25th!



Social Studies-Chapter 11
"The Young U.S."
Lesson 1-1800-The federal government moves to the new capital.
Lesson 2-1805-Lewis and Clark reach the Pacific Ocean in their exploration of the West.
Lesson 3-1814-Francis Scott Key writes The "Star-Spangled Banner" while watching the battle at Fort McHenry.
Test will probably be Wed., May 30th!


Reading:  

We have finished our Fantasy books.  The students will start their Fantasy Book Project tomorrow.  They can make a Fantasy Hat or a comic strip about their book.
