Science-

Conducting a Paper Airplane experiment!
Who's flew the furthest and why?
What were the variables in this experiment?  Did some students have different variables?










 Lunch Bunch Pics-Students are invited to have lunch in the classroom.  They will meet either this week or next!!!


Our class will be reading with the preschoolers once a month. The students read with their "Reading Buddies" this last Wednesday and LOVED it!   ENJOY the pics!

ELA-English: Chapter 1-"The Sentence"
Chapter 1-Discussions and Quizzes over the following concepts:

*Subjects and Predicates
*Subjects in Imperatives
*Conjunctions
*Run-on Sentences


ELA-Reading: Challenges
Next, we will read about Jackie Robinson and talk about his challenges and how they relate back to our 3 essential questions in reading:

1)  How can challenges affect yourself and those around you?
2)  How do characters, real or fiction, respond to challenges in positive and negative ways?
3)  How are challenges conquered in literature and informational text?


Social Studies: Chapter 4-"Spain Builds an Empire"
We will begin with chapter 4 this year.
Lesson 1-The Voyages of Columbus and what it led to
Lesson 2-Different Worlds Collide-Spanish conquistadors establish new colonies in North America and South America
Lesson 3-Life in New Spain-Spain gaining wealth from the settlement in North America


Science: Chapter 5-Ecosystems

We will move to "Energy and Ecosystems" next.  In this chapter we will answer the following essential questions:
How Do Plants Produce Food? and How Is Energy Passed Through an Ecosystem?

We will learn about transpiration, photosynthesis, chlorophyll, producers and consumers in lesson 1 and ecosystems, herbivores, carnivores, food chains, decomposes, food webs and energy pyramids in lesson 2.

The chapter 1 test will be some time next week, Thursday or Friday.
